"All
competing horses get tight muscles, just like a human athlete. So
before local seven year old gelding Song Time takes to the track
for the Ballina Cup on Thursday, Ray Bove will give him a massage.
"It's
just like remedial massage for horses", the qualified muscle
therapist said. "Horses have to be balanced and relaxed to
compete well. They're just like any other athlete. They get tight
and need a rub down. They can be bit touchy when they're in pain
but after I've worked on them you can just see them relax"
Ray
who has been working on horses at Ballina race stables has also
worked for many other owners around Australia, Argentina and
Brazil.......

Priscilla
has received some extra special treatment
since she has been in the Smith stables thanks
to Nambucca Valley's Ray Bove.....Bove
specialises in deep muscle remedial work and he spent yesterday afternoon
preparing Priscilla for today's journey. He
also works on other gallopers in the Smith
stable. "Under
his care and with a couple of treatments from
me we we got her to win her first race 18
months ago," Bove said. "She jarred
up during the Grafton Cup on a hard fast track
in July...I worked on her for several days
later and she improved straight away."
Bove said deep muscle therapy and keeping the
horse in top condition had resulted in her
strong performance on the track.

excerpts from this article
"The
owner of the pictured eventing horse said her
horse had suffered from a sore back for some time.
After Raymond Bove's deep muscle therapy the
horse's condition and performance improved 100
percent and he achieved his best ever performance
in the dressage section..... Bove says that his
deep muscle technique also readies a horse for
skeletal adjustments..... Many problems are
located in the neck and back end....the
combination of deep tissue release and skeletal
adjustments makes a horse move more freely, have a
good recovery and regain appetite."
