Brainerd Legion will host a breakfast buffet
The Brainerd Legion will be hosting a breakfast buffet from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, May 22.
The cost for adults is $10 and children $5.
New event at Historic Log Village in Crosslake
CROSSLAKE — The Crosslake Area Historical Society will hold a season-opening event from 4-7 p.m. June 7 on the grounds of the Historic Log Village.
There will be a showcase of volunteer opportunities as well as training for those interested in learning more about volunteering. The Historic Log Village opens on Memorial Weekend and is open weekends throughout the summer season. Volunteers are needed to participate in many activities.
Maucieri’s food truck will be available on site. Emily’s Kale Jones will entertain with live music.

Hog Roast Fun Day Fundraiser scheduled for June 18
DEERWOOD – The American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion and American Legion Post No. 557 will host a Hog Roast Fun Day fundraiser at the Walter Scott Erickson Legion on Forest Road in Deerwood.
The fun starts at 10 a.m. on June 18 with a beer garden, bake sale, and sloppy joes available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Afternoon live music by Mike and Jan Cherry and other activities are planned.
A benefit raffle was held with over $4,000 in prizes. Raffle tickets are available now from all Legion members and at the Deerwood Legion. Tickets are also available for a 50/50 cash draw in advance and on the day of the event.
A pork roast with pork sandwiches and all the trimmings will cost $10 per plate and will be served from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The draw and drawings will take place at 8:30 p.m.
Live music by Yesterdaze Gone will be from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
All proceeds benefit the Deerwood American Legion and its community support.

BAXTER – The Brainerd Lakes Area Parkinson’s Support Group meeting will be held June 2 at 1 p.m. at Lord of Life Church, 6190 Fairview Drive, Baxter.

Community garden meeting planned in Pillager
PILLAGER — There will be a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24 at the empty lot near the car wash in downtown Pillager, where the family center once stood, to discuss the possibility of a new community garden wider.
There is a small community garden at Pillager at the school which serves about six gardeners, but has no room for expansion.
Cass County Health and Nutrition is working with the Pillager Family Center to potentially create this community garden.
This meeting is for anyone interested in gardening and wishing to get involved in its development.

The Lakes Prostate Cancer Fund is part of the Essentia Health Foundation and our mission is to raise awareness about prostate cancer, provide relevant information, and provide casual support group experiences for men and their caregivers.
